John Wall’s heartwarming gesture to Stephen Silas after Rockets’ first win

Rockets, John Wall, Stephen Silas

The Houston Rockets got off to a rough start for the season after going 0-2 through the first two games. They were, however, able to rebound from those undesirable performances after capturing their first win on New Year’s Eve against the Sacramento Kings.

John Wall, who had voiced his frustrations with not being available through the Rockets’ first two games, was pleased with the 122-119 victory on Friday. The five-time All-Star even made sure to leave head coach Stephen Silas with a sentimental memorabilia for the victory.

“They gave me the game ball,” the Rockets coach said, per ESPN. “The team gave me the game ball. That’ll be one to remember. Hopefully one of many. I’ve kinda coached games prior to this. One year I coached a few games. And then there’s another year where I coached 21 games when Steve Clifford was out and when I got my wins they gave me balls for those ones. This one means a lot because it’s my win.”

Silas went on to state that it was actually Wall that presented him with the ball. Given the dramatic takeoff that Silas has had as a head coach, the Rockets should be handing out game balls to Silas all season long.

After being hired as the new Rockets head coach to replace Mike D’Antoni, Silas was thrusted immediately into the drama that surrounded both Russell Westbrook and James Harden.

While Westbrook was eventually shipped off for Wall, Harden still remains an uncertain factor in the Rockets’ locker room. Hopefully, Houston will be able to continue their success amid the drama that’s circulated Harden so far.
