Jazz’s Donovan Mitchell reacts to tribute video for Russell Westbrook
Regardless of the circumstances that led to his departure from Oklahoma City, Russell Westbrook still received a fitting video tribute inside the Chesapeake Energy Arena upon his much-anticipated homecoming on Thursday.
The clip starts off showing Russ’ early days with OKC right before the franchise relocated. It also showed his greatest triumphs with the organization. Westbrook led the franchise to multiple playoff appearances, capped off by an NBA Finals trip in 2012.
Among those touched by the gesture is Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell. Mitchell took to Twitter to share his thoughts about the two-minute montage.
Seeing that Russ tribute video lol reminds me of how young I am lol

Mitchell, 23, is eight years younger than Westbrook. The pair of combo guards have similar attributes and skill sets. In particular, they use their freakish athleticism to impact games. Mitchell, however, still has a lot of catching up to do to measure up to the eight-time All-Star and one-time MVP.
Mitchell is building a strong case to make the All-Star team for the first time this year. He’s averaging 24.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. The young guard is also making 46.3 percent of his shots from the field and 36.0 percent from downtown. His spectacular play has led the Jazz to a seven-game winning streak to secure fifth place in the Western Conference with a 25-12 slate.
Westbrook’s stats, on the other hand, has taken a dip in his first season in Houston after averaging a triple-double in the last three seasons. He is still scoring at a high clip with 24.1 points per game, but his rebounds (7.9) and assists per game (7.0) both took a hit.
