Jazz star Rudy Gobert trolls Clint Capela for missing mid-range shots; Rockets C responds

Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert trolled Clint Capela for missing a series of mid-range shots during an exhibition game with Sweden. The Houston Rockets big man, however, was quick to retaliate.

On Twitter, Gobert posted a clip of Capela showing off his new in-game mid-range jumper. While he did drain some shots, Gobert still made fun of the Swiss center.

In response, Capela dared Gobert to take two shots outside the paint in a game. He then posted a clip of Gobert practicing his 3-point shots.

The two have had their fair share of battles in the playoffs, so there’s no surprise that even in the offseason the two are going at it — giving one another a bit of a ribbing.

Capela and Gobert are known as two of the best defensive centers in the league. Gobert has won two Defensive Player of the Year Awards (2018 and 2019). Capela, for his part, has finished within the top 25 in blocked shots per game in the past three seasons.

Based on the clips above, they are looking to expand their game from being defensive anchors to reliable scorers. After all, basketball has evolved into a positionless game — big men are expected to go beyond their traditional duties of rebounding and protecting the paint. Now, they should at least possess a decent jumper from mid-range and beyond the arc.

From the looks of it, Jazz and Rockets fans will see a new and improved player in Gobert and Capela. Now, the question is: who will have the edge in the event that they meet in the playoffs once again?
