James Harden throws the ball at Frank Mason, both players figure in tense moment

James Harden

Things got a bit tense on Wednesday night’s matchup between the Houston Rockets and the Sacramento Kings. At one point, Rockets superstar James Harden threw the ball at Kings guard Frank Mason, which the latter did not appreciate.

Mason appeared to have inadvertently hit Harden on the face on a steal attempt. Harden did not like it one bit, and decided to (almost halfheartedly) throw the ball towards Mason. The Kings youngster did not approve of the gesture, and made sure that he got in Harden’s face to let him know that he was unwilling to take any nonsense.

Fortunately, the game official got in the way, and things did not escalate to anything more than a mere outburst of two guys’ extremely competitive nature.

Instead, Harden let his game do the talking as he led the Rockets to an easy 127-101 blowout victory against Mason and the Kings. The reigning league MVP went off for a game-high 36 points (on an efficient 13-of-26 from the floor), and added eight three-pointers, six rebounds, an assist, two steals, a block, and just two turnovers in 32 minutes of action.

For his part, Mason was not bad himself, with the 24-year-old providing a spark off the Sacramento bench. In just 12 minutes action, he managed 13 points (on 4-of-6 shooting), two three’s, two rebounds, and an assists.

The Rockets will have the next two nights off before taking on Harden’s former team, the Oklahoma City Thunder, on Saturday.
