James Harden states Rockets aren’t just about him and Russell Westbrook

The Houston Rockets are obviously going to go as far as James Harden and Russell Westbrook can take them, but Harden knows for Houston to win the title, everyone on the roster has to play at a high level.

Harden says the Rockets aren’t just about him and Westbrook. The Beard believes the supporting cast in Houston is as good as it gets in the NBA.

“It’s easy. We’ll figure it out. We’re two very smart, talented guys that want to win, and are willing to sacrifice and do whatever it takes,” Harden told Vanity Fair. “And it’s not just me and Russell on the team. Clint Capela’s gotten better. P.J.’s gotten better. Eric [Gordon]. We’ve got a young guy, Danuel House. We added Tyson Chandler. Austin Rivers. We got a lot of guys that can contribute and help us get to where we want to go. So it’s not just about me and Russ. We got a group of guys to get on the same page. That’s why we got an 82-game season: to help with that.”

With James Harden and Russell Westbrook in the fold, the Rockets are the only team in the NBA with two MVPs on the roster. Houston is hoping to have similar success as the Golden State Warriors, who won two straight championships with Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry leading the charge.

Harden has led the league in scoring the past two seasons, while Westbrook has averaged a triple-double three years in a row. The Rockets figure to be a juggernaut on offense, but it’s up to the role players on the squad to contribute every night — especially in the playoffs — if the Rockets want to bring home the title.
