James Harden made all kinds of history in the Houston Rockets’ blowout win over the Utah Jazz.
The 29-year-old All-Star recorded a triple-double of 32 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assist to lead the Rockets to a 118-98 victory in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series. In the process, Harden set a new mark for the most playoff assists in franchise history.
According to NBA Stats, Harden has passed Hakeem Olajuwon for the most assists in the franchise’s playoff history. His 10 dimes are enough to bring him to 457 postseason assists, one more than Olajuwon’s 456.

Remarkably, Harden did it in less playoff matches too. The star shooting guard achieved the feat in just his seventh season and 64th postseason contest with the Rockets. In contrast, Olajuwon recorded his mark after 14 seasons and 140 playoff games with the franchise.
Besides setting a new franchise mark, Harden also became only the sixth player to record multiple 30-point triple-doubles in the playoffs. He joins an exclusive list that includes Charles Barkley, Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson, LeBron James and Russell Westbrook.
Moreover, his 13 boards in the showdown with the Jazz is his career best at this stage of the campaign, proving to everyone that he is more than just an offensive weapon.
Harden and Co. will meet Utah again on Saturday, this time at Salt Lake City where they will hope to put the Jazz in a 0-3 hole.
