James Harden on Rockets’ slump – ‘Tough times don’t last long’

The Houston Rockets are currently on a three-game slump and are slowly descending in the Western Conference standings. But former MVP James Harden believes that ‘tough times don’t last long.’ Sooner or later, the team will get its mojo back.

Per Mark Berman of Fox 26, Harden downplayed concerns on their losing streak. He noted that every team goes through a slump throughout the course of the season. Amid this, he trusts in the Rockets’ winning mettle.

“We’re going through a tough time, obviously. It happens to every team I think throughout the course of a year, but tough times don’t last long, especially for teams that are built for it.”

The Mike D’Antoni-led Rockets currently sport a 26-15 record for sixth in the West. They have split their last 10 games at 5-5. Their latest loss came at the hands of the short-handed Los Angeles Lakers squad. A win would’ve given the Rockets that much-needed boost but the Lakers employed a defensive tactic that slowed Harden down and the entire team as well.

The Rockets have two more home games against the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Denver Nuggets before heading to a tough five-game road trip. According to big man Clint Capela, the remaining two home games can help then get their rhythm back.

“These next home games can help us before we get on the road, get our effort back, our mojo back,” Capela said, per Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.

These words from Capela and Harden pretty much sum up the positive mindset that the Rockets have. Here’s to hoping that this mentality will translate into wins.
