James Harden on adding Joe Johnson and Brandan Wright

James Harden

For the Houston Rockets (44-13) and superstar guard James Harden, there is plenty to smile about right now. The Rockets currently have the league’s best record and recently added two veteran players in shooting guard Joe Johnson and power forward Brandan Wright for depth on their bench and added experience for the postseason.

In an article written by Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype, Harden opened up about the addition of his two new teammates and what they bring to the Rockets going forward.

“We needed them,” Harden said of Johnson and Wright. “Those are experienced vets who both have playoff experience. And we all want to win – that’s what everyone on this roster has in common. We have a roster full of guys who are hungry and ready to compete at a high level.”

What really stands out to Harden right now about Houston’s roster? Head coach Mike D’Antoni has a lot of depth to work with.

“We have really good depth now. We have a roster of guys, from top to bottom, who can step in and really get the job done. That’s exciting, and it also means everyone’s minutes should go down, but our productivity [as a whole] should go up,” Harden said.

Harden went on to say that this current Rockets team is one of the best, if not the best, teams he’s ever been on.

“From a roster standpoint and a performance standpoint, I think this is one of the best teams that I’ve been a part of,” Harden said. “And obviously the goal is to win a championship.”

The Rockets are on a roll right now and it’s hard to see them slowing down, as they have the NBA’s longest active winning streak at 10 games headed into the All-Star break.
