James Harden notches triple-double for Nets in return to Houston to hand Rockets 13th straight loss

The Brooklyn Nets took on the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night, which represented former Rockets legend James Harden’s first game back in Houston since being traded to the Nets on January 14.

In the game, the Nets waxed Houston by an impressive 132 to 114 margin, a lot of which was thanks to Harden himself, who piled up 29 points, 14 assists, and 10 rebounds with a game-high +17 in on/off rating.

While Kevin Durant still remains out with a hamstring injury, the Nets have been cruising thanks to the elite play of Harden and his star backcourt running mate Kyrie Irving.

In this game, the Nets got tremendous production from all five of their starters – Harden and Irving, of course – but also Bruce Brown (17 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists), Joe Harris (19 points on only 9 shooting possessions) and starting center DeAndre Jordan (a double-double in 28 minutes on only 7 shooting possessions).

However, perhaps the most notable Nets performer was second-year super-sub Nicolas Claxton, who only saw action in 15 games last season due to injuries and inexperience. In this game, Claxton continued his run of brilliant play by putting up 16 points and 8 rebounds in only 16 minutes of action.

Claxton seems to be both lithe and cerebral – a killer combination when a young player is playing alongside three surefire Hall of Famers in Harden, Irving, and Durant.

This was a great team win for the Nets, though, of course, Harden’s return to Houston took the headlines.
