James Harden jokes about getting tangled up with Chris Paul

Rockets, James Harden, Chris Paul

Former teammates James Harden and Chris Paul got tangled up during the Houston Rockets – Oklahoma City Thunder game last night.

Asked about the little physical tie-up, Harden joked about how the reporter is just looking to stir something up and immediately squashed any kind of beef between the two, per Tim MacMahon of ESPN.

Harden threw up a lob to Russell Westbrook as Paul looked on. As Harden came down the lane, he and Paul’s arms got tied up as CP3 tried to get the ball after Westbrook’s alley-oop finish.

Rumblings about Harden and Paul’s rocky relationship began to circulate following the Rockets’ disappointing second round exit in the playoffs last season.

Many immediately jumped to the conclusion that the two didn’t get along when Houston traded Paul to the Oklahoma City Thunder and replaced him with Harden’s good buddy, Russell Westbrook.

However, the two have since insisted that they are on good terms with each other. Harden’s recent joke certainly confirms that.

Nevertheless, the two are on different sides right now and these kinds of things happen in just about any NBA game. So, there’s really no need to blow this thing out of proportion.

Harden got the best of Paul in their first match-up against each other since they went their separate ways this past summer. Houston defeated OKC in a close one, 116-112.

Harden top-scored for the Rockets with 40 points and added three rebounds and seven assists. He also made three 3-pointers and shot 21-of-22 from the charity stripe.

Paul finished with 15 points, five rebounds, and four assists in his first game back in Houston.
