James Harden is doing his best Wilt Chamberlain impression this season

James Harden, Rockets Wilt Chamberlain

Houston Rockets superstar guard James Harden is currently averaging more than one point per minute this season, a feat only the legendary Wilt Chamberlain has accomplished before:

Love him or hate him, there’s no denying James Harden is a scoring machine who should be mentioned alongside the likes of Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

The Rockets traded Jeremy Lamb, Kevin Martin, a 2013 first-round pick (Steven Adams was later selected), a 2013 second-round pick (Alex Abrines was later selected) and a 2014 first-round pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Harden. It’s safe to say Houston won the trade by a landslide.

This season, Harden is putting up 37.7 points, 6.2 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game. The seven-time All-Star is shooting 45.3 percent from the field, 38.0 percent from beyond the arc and 86.1 percent from the free-throw line.

For the third consecutive season, Harden is leading the NBA in scoring. The Rockets star already has one 60-point game this season and scored at least 50 points five times.

Harden notched 37.3 points, 6.9 assists and 5.6 rebounds per game as the Rockets went 10-5 last month. The former MVP was named the Western Conference Player of the Month.

The Rockets, led by Harden and Russell Westbrook, will try and prevent an all-LA matchup from happening in the Western Conference Finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers. Houston is 26-12 on the season. The Rockets are currently in the fourth spot in the Western Conference standings.
