Building off his best individual season, Houston Rockets star guard James Harden has picked up where he left off by coming out of the gate quick to another highly productive campaign.
While the 28-year-old has seen his scoring take another uptick, he has also put up more efficient shooting from beyond the arc, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.
Harden is making 39.8 percent from the 3-point line with 16 more 3s this season than the second-most prolific 3-point shooter in the NBA, Golden State’s Klay Thompson.

Harden is currently hitting at a career-best pace from three-point range that has only further fueled his MVP-caliber campaign as he’s leading the league with 31.8 points and 10.1 assists per game. Much of that production has come this month as he’s averaging 37.6 points per contest while shooting 43.9 percent from beyond the arc and also dishing out 10.9 assists.
This includes scoring more than 25 points in each contest with six outings posting more than 30 points topped by a career-best 56 points against the Utah Jazz. He is also coming off a 48-point outing in Chris Paul’s return on Thursday night against the Phoenix Suns.
The improved three-point shooting has been quite an impressive feat as he’s the unquestioned top scoring option for the Rockets, which draws the primary attention of the opposing team to close out on him on a nightly basis. However, he has been able to strive as he has hit at least six three-pointers on six occasions with five coming in this month alone.
With Paul back in the mix, it will be interesting to see if he can keep up that pace and further stabilize his MVP bid as the season rolls along.
