The Houston Rockets have hit a rough stretch as of late against Los Angeles. Just days after losing a heartbreaker to the Lakers, the Rockets came up short in their loss to the Clippers.

However, they did get to enjoy stellar performances by superstar shooting guard James Harden. “The Beard” followed up his marvelous 51-point performance against the Lakers with another 51-point outing against the Clippers. According to ESPN Stats & Info, he is the first player to post back-to-back 50-point performances since Lakers legend Kobe Bryant did it during the 2006-07 NBA season:

While it may seem like Harden had his way with the Clippers defense on Friday night, it was actually one of the more hard-earned outings he has had considering all the controversial calls that went against him. Regardless, he finished with 51 points on an efficient 15-of-28 from the field to go with eight assists, and three steals.

If there was one knock on Harden’s game was the fact that he was an uncharacteristic 6-of-14 from three-point land. Furthermore, he was clearly frustrated with the lack of calls that went his way.

That said, he will have a tall task ahead of him if he plans on matching Bryant’s impressive run. However, it seems Harden is more intent on getting his team back into the win column.
