James Harden, Donovan Mitchell show out in charity softball game

Houston Rockets star James Harden held his second annual charity softball game at the University of Houston’s Cougar Softball Stadium over the weekend.

The charity game was a hit as Harden invited NBA players and some celebrities to participate in the exhibition. Both Harden and Utah Jazz sophomore Donovan Mitchell were caught delivering the goods for their team, with Mitchell hitting a monster home run.

Maybe both Mitchell and Harden could do a “Michael Jordan” and switch to playing baseball, right? Though, the greater thing to be discussed here is how these two superstars have been exerting effort to help the community.

The 2018 NBA Most Valuable Player proved that his value extends off the court. In an article by, Harden emphasized the importance of this charity event.

“Obviously basketball is one thing — me building my legacy and wanting to be one of the best basketball players ever, but outside of that, making sure I put a positive impact on the community — not just around the world, but making sure it’s in Houston.”

Harden has been keen on giving his best towards the community as his 3 The Harden Way Foundation has since provided a lot of help, especially to students in need. ABC13 News gave a brief rundown of Harden’s charitable organization.

“Hardens’ “3TheHarden Way Foundation” says it is dedicated to bridging economic and educational gaps in the Houston metropolitan area by providing academic financial support to high achieving students demonstrating leadership within communities facing economic hardship.”

Mitchell, the 2018 runner-up for the Rookie of the Year award, has also trended with numerous donations and good deeds that inspired a lot of people on social media.
