James Harden has no plans on ever leaving the Houston Rockets and is confident he’ll win at least one title in Houston.
Harden says he plans on retiring with the Rockets and will figure out a way to deliver a championship to Houston soon, via Howard Beck of Bleacher Report:
“There’s other ways that I could have did it, and probably would have had a championship by now,” Harden says. “But I’m fine with just being in Houston and figuring a way. … I’m going to find a way to win a championship, at least one. I’ll figure it out in Houston. But it’s not going to eat me alive. Like, I’m comfortable in my career.”
That comfort starts with a front office that has been hyperaggressive in chasing (and occasionally landing) All-Stars to aid Harden’s quest. Morey has also given Harden a consistent voice in personnel matters.
“I trust the front office to go out there and get the best players that can help this organization win,” says Harden, who says he’ll retire in a Rockets jersey, whenever that day comes.
James Harden has been a scoring machine ever since he arrived to Houston back in 2012. In 545 games with the Rockets, Harden is averaging 29.0 points while shooting 44.3 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from beyond the arc.
Harden is already the third-leading scorer in Rockets franchise history. The 2018 MVP has led the league in scoring the past two seasons. The only thing left for The Beard to accomplish in Houston is winning a title. The Rockets have a good chance of winning it all in 2019-20 with Russell Westbrook in the fold next to Harden.
