James Harden created, scored or assisted on 100 of Rockets points vs. Magic
As if Houston Rockets fans needed any more proof that James Harden is really, really good — they got it anyway.
Harden exploded for 60 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists Tuesday night against the Orlando Magic, and everyone around the NBA lost their minds — and for good reason — it was the first 60-point triple-double in NBA history.
But what might be even more astounding was how many points Harden created while he was on the floor. He scored 60 on his own, but created another 40 by either direct assists or making plays that led to assists.
Of the 111 points the Rockets scored while Harden played, he was responsible for 100 of them, per Synergy Sports.
After accounting for the openings he generated more than one pass away, @JHarden13 created, assisted, or scored 100 of the 111 points the @HoustonRockets scored while he was on the floor last night (90%).

The Rockets scored 114 points as a team, and only scored three total points when he was on the bench. Three. That’s almost unheard of.
But that’s the type of player Harden has become since joining the Rockets and being paired up with head coach Mike D’Antoni. Harden scores like gangbusters, makes a lot of plays to get his teammates involved and basically runs that whole offense. And this is a team that recently added Chris Paul to the mix.
Harden is very often underrated when it comes to the MVP discussion, but performances like Tuesday night’s remind many that the guy can play and he is one of the best players in the NBA.
The Rockets will need this type of Harden if and when they play the Golden State Warriors in the playoffs. He won’t have to score 60 points every night, but he’ll need to be as aggressive and effective as he was against the Magic.
