Houston Rockets superstar James Harden is playing on a league of his own right now. So much so, that not only is he leading the league in scoring, but he is actually doing so with such a comfortable margin.
As a matter of fact, as pointed out by Rockets insider Jonathan Feigen, if Harden were to go scoreless in the next 10 games (which is, of course, impossible), he would still be number one in the league’s scoring leader board.
With his 61-point game last night, Harden is averaging 36.3 points peer game. If he goes scoreless in his next 10 games and Curry, Davis stay on their current pace, he’d still lead the NBA in scoring (29.55 to 29.3.)

While both Anthony Davis and Stephen Curry are having MVP-caliber seasons themselves, they’re simply not on Harden’s level right now. Both guys are averaging close to 30 points per game (Davis is at 29.3 ppg while Curry sits at 29.2), but that’s seven points behind Harden’s mind-blowing 36.6 ppg average.
On Tuesday, Harden put on an absolute show in Madison Square Garden as he dropped a career-high 61 points to lead the Rockets to a 114-100 victory against the New York Knicks. This was just the latest in the 29-year-old’s recent offensive barrage.
With more than half of the season done, and with such a huge lead, it would probably be safe to say that Harden has his second straight scoring title secured. Now, whether or not it will translate to back-to-back MVP wins remains to be seen. However, with how amazing Harden has been for the Rockets all season long, it would take a an equally spectacular second half of the season for anybody else who wishes to challenge Harden in this season’s MVP race.
