James Harden attempted more free throws vs. Grizzlies than 6 of the other teams that played on Monday

James Harden, Rockets

Monday night against the Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets star shooting guard James Harden went to the free-throw line 27 times, which was more free throw attempts than six of the other teams which played on Monday, according to David MacKay of Rockets Wire.

James Harden shot more free throws than the Boston Celtics, San Antonio Spurs, Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Pelicans, Atlanta Hawks and Orlando Magic.

James Harden went 21-of-27 from the free-throw line versus the Grizzlies and finished with 43 points on just eight field goal makes. The fact that The Beard is getting to the charity stripe by himself more than six other NBA teams is simply mind-boggling. He really has mastered the art of drawing fouls.

As we all know, there are a lot of people who don’t like the way James Harden plays basketball. The reigning MVP initiates a lot of the contact on his drives to the hoop, yet the player guarding him gets called for the foul.

Rockets fans are clearly loving every second of this. The scoring tear Harden has been on recently as helped Houston win 10 of its last 11 games and climb up in the Western Conference standings. It’s not pretty to watch by any means. No fan is going to a basketball game to watch a player shoot 27 free throws.

Whatever Harden is doing, though, is clearly working to his advantage.
