Houston’s first practice “amazing” without James Harden and Russell Westbrook

The Houston Rockets is still missing their two main guys, James Harden and Russell Westbrook, who both have yet to rejoin the team in the Disney World bubble. Nevertheless, recent reports state that the team has been able to manage despite the absence of their superstar duo.

Rockets shooting guard Ben McLemore opened up about Houston’s first official practice session inside the bubble, and according to the 27-year-old, things are pretty peachy.

“Today we had our first day of practice and it was amazing,” McLemore said, via Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle. “Everybody is ready to get back out there on the court.

“We’re looking good today. It’s not shocking. I know … all our guys stayed in shape and made sure … they stayed active.”

Both Harden and Westbrook did not travel with their Rockets teammates to Orlando for their own personal reasons, but are fully expected to link up with the squad within the next few days. After all, the season doesn’t officially restart until more than a couple of weeks from now, so it’s not like there’s any really urgency here. The Rockets are just happy that both of their superstars have opted to take part in the resumption of the season, given how there have been a few guys (from other teams) who have voluntarily opted out of taking part in the remainder of the campaign.

Moreover, as McLemore described above, everyone on the Rockets’ side has kept in shape during the extended hiatus. Both Harden and Westbrook are some of the most competitive and determined individuals in the entire league, so we’re pretty sure that they’ll be ready.
