If the New York Knicks are able to reach a buyout agreement with Wes Matthews, the Houston Rockets will reportedly be among the teams that will have interest in his services.
ESPN’s Ian Begley shared the news Thursday morning, citing the belief of opposing executives:
Opposing execs believe the Houston Rockets will also have interest in Knicks’ Wes Matthews if/when the veteran is bought out by NYK.

Though he went undrafted in 2009, Matthews has developed into a solid veteran player who would likely help any team’s rotation. The former Marquette Golden Eagle has played for several teams over the course of his nine-year career in the NBA, including the Knicks, Utah Jazz, Portland Trail Blazers and Dallas Mavericks.
The Dallas Mavericks traded Matthews to the Knicks on January 31st, along with Dennis Smith Jr., DeAndre Jordan and two future first round draft picks. In return, the Knicks sent Kristaps Porziņģis, Tim Hardaway Jr., Trey Burke and Courtney Lee to Dallas.
Matthews holds career averages of 13.8 points on 42.6 percent shooting from the field (38.2 percent from beyond the arc), 3.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.1 steals in 27.0 minutes per outing.

If the Knicks can’t trade the large contracts of center Enes Kanter and swingman Wes Matthews for an expiring contract and a draft pick before the 3 p.m. deadline, the players are expected to be waived or bought out, according to a source.
