Hakeem Olajuwon would love to teach Knicks’ Kristaps Porzingis a few moves

Kristaps Porzingis

The New York Knicks have a superstar in the making with Kristaps Porzingis. The Latvian product is proving with every passing game that he’s the real deal and ready to shoulder the responsibility of being the face of the storied NBA franchise in the biggest market in the country.

Along with making a case for NBA MVP early in the 2017-18 NBA season, Porzingis has caught the attention of a legendary center who proved that players at their position in the league can be much more versatile with the right moves and footwork. Houston Rockets legend Hakeem Olajuwon is impressed with what he sees in Porzingis but would to teach him a few things, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.

Nevertheless, Olajuwon said he would love to work with 7-foot-3 Kristaps Porzingis, but frankly, the retired Rockets superstar doesn’t think he needs much help. Porzingis already has dabbled in attempting the “Dream Shake’’ earlier this season.

Olajuwon has worked with a lot of great players in the past to help them take their game to the next level. Kobe Bryant and LeBron James are a couple players that picked the brain of the two-time NBA champion and Porzingis could benefit from a few tips from the Hall of Famer, via Berman.

“Everyone can always get stronger,’’ Olajuwon said. “But he’s fantastic, always plays with confidence, has a lot of moves, shooting 3s. I think the post game is most important because of his length. He’s so skilled he can do whatever he wants on the floor.”

Although the Knicks have struggled a bit recently dropping to 10-9 on the season thus far and splitting their last 10 games, New York is currently in the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference and may be well on their way to ending their playoff drought.

As long as Porzingis can stay healthy while playing the best basketball of his career, the Knicks could be a force in the East the rest of the way and potentially for many years to come.
