Gerald Green says Rockets ready to ‘run it back’ with Warriors

Gerald Green, Rockets, Warriors

Gerald Green won’t stray too far from his early Houston playground days, hoping to get one more crack at the Golden State Warriors after coming ever-so-close to dethroning the champs in the Western Conference Finals.

“Absolutely. We know we have that chance. It’s kind of like, we want that rematch, we wanna run it back,” said Green. “That’s what we’ve been saying, let’s run that back. That’s our whole mentality — when you wanna run something back, you wanna play now, you don’t wanna wait three months from now, so we’re ready to go. I know I am.”

“If training camp was tomorrow, I’d be ready.”

Green enjoyed one of his best NBA seasons after being picked up by the Rockets as a free agent before the deadline, posting 12.1 points and 3.2 rebounds through 41 games as a spark plug off the bench. However, he didn’t get much playing time in the Western Conference Finals as he was limited to 6.3 points per game and a 38.5 percent shooting performance throughout the series.

The Rockets feel that they were a Chris Paul injury away from reaching the NBA Finals. Houston had a 3-2 lead over Golden State before Paul missed the last two games.

While the Rockets have the urge to give this rivalry another shot when it matters, they will have to wait another 10 months before they potentially meet again when all the chips are down.
