Eric Gordon will play, Trevor Ariza out vs. Nets

Eric Gordon

The Houston Rockets got a bit of good news, and a bit of bad news before their game with the Nets that tips off at 7:30 Eastern time tonight.

Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle was the first one to break news:

Eric Gordon left the game last Tuesday against the Magic with back stiffness. The Rockets held him out of the last two games for precautionary reasons but he will be a full go tonight.

On the season, he is averaging 19.1 points per game while shooting 42.1 percent from the field. In the previous game against the Nets this year, he came off the bench and put up 12 points.

He struggled from behind the arc though going 1-10, and the Rockets will look for a little more production out of him this game.

In terms of Trevor Ariza, he has been out about a week and a half a leg injury, and the Rockets haven’t really released much more information.

Ariza has been a fixture in the starting lineup for the Rockets all year and has been averaging 12.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.

With Ariza being out, look for the likes of Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, Gerald Green, Eric Gordon and P.J. Tucker to get more minutes.

Mbah a Moute was the one to get the start against the Cavaliers in the last game. He played 30 minutes, put up 11 points, and was a +11.

He could see a little decrease in minutes with Gordon back, but he should still play right around that 25-30 minute mark.
