Eric Gordon says no-calls on 3-pointers vs. Warriors are calls that had been going in Rockets’ favor all season

The Houston Rockets are feeling hard done by how the officiating went down in their Game 1 defeat against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday. Rockets guard Eric Gordon, in particular, took notice of how the match officials seemed to have overlooked a number of fouls on some of their three-point attempts — something that had been going in their favor all season long.

Eric Gordon on the calls the Rockets believed they should have gotten when the Warriors contested 3s: “All I’m going to say is we’ve been getting them all year. It should be no different now.”

This a pretty strong statement from Gordon here, as he was obviously unhappy with how the referees called the game. The refs were pretty consistent in their no-calls all game long, though, but one particular play that stands out was the non-call on the James Harden three-point attempt with just 10 seconds remaining in the ballgame. It appears that Kevin Durant left no room for Harden to land following his attempt, which is why the latter fell to the floor. Tempers definitely boiled over following this mysterious non-call, with Chris Paul getting ejected after being called for his second technical foul.

Gordon, nonetheless, was pretty amazing in this one, scoring 27 points on 10-of-19 shooting, along with four three-pointers, four rebounds, and two blocks in 37 minutes of play. He was the second-highest scorer for the Rockets, with Harden leading the way yet again with a 35-point performance, with four three-pointers, four rebounds, six assists, and three steals.

Despite their heroics, though, the Warriors would still go on to take Game 1, 104-100.

Game 2 is scheduled for Tuesday night, and the Rockets will definitely want to win at least one game in Oakland before they head back to their home floor for Game 3 and 4.
