Eric Gordon says he would like to retire in Houston

Eric Gordon, the sharpshooting guard of the Houston Rockets has a long way to go before he hangs up his sneakers for good. But he already knows that he wants to retire as a Rocket.

Via Twitter, Gordon called for a question and answer portion from his followers. One fan asked if he wants to retire as Rocket, to which Gordon responded:

Gordon, 29 years old, will be entering his 11th season this year. He was the seventh overall pick by the L.A. Clippers back in 2008. He achieved great success in his three years there and was named into the All-Rookie Second Team.

But a trade package involving Chris Paul sent him to the New Orleans Hornets. With the Hornets, Gordon put up decent numbers but a spate of injuries prevented him from playing at an optimum level.

But since joining the Rockets, Gordon seemingly revived his career. Under head coach Mike D’Antoni’s system, Gordon became a designated assassin from downtown, and this role fits him perfectly like a glove. Not only did he win the 3-point contest in his first season, he was also crowned the Sixth Man of the Year.

But more importantly, Gordon helped the team rack up some wins in the tough Western Conference. Now, he’s seen as one of the pillars of the Rockets’ offense. The Rockets are regarded as a championship contender — one of the few teams who can go toe-to-toe with the Golden State Warriors. And Gordon’s presence played a big part.
