Dwayne Haskins takes James Harden route while explaining leaked maskless clubbing images

Dwayne Haskins, James Harden

Dwayne Haskins may be in the clear to potentially play on Sunday, but he also wanted to offer an explanation into the investigation of him breaching COVID-19 protocols. The 23-year-old quarterback was recently spotted at a club surrounded by a rather large grouping of individuals, all while maskless.

During a press conference on Wednesday, Haskins took the James Harden route while explaining this situation. Harden is going through his own ordeal with COVID-19 protocols, and he claimed earlier Wednesday that he wasn’t actually at a strip club. Haskins did the same thing:

To be fair to Haskins, he did at least apologize for his actions, while Harden has been a bit more indignant. Despite Haskins’ apologies to his team and the league, a $40,000 fine was given to the quarterback, and he was also officially stripped of his captain title.

Haskins could get another chance to start against the Carolina Panthers in Week 16 if Alex Smith isn’t able to go. Haskins lost his starting job at the beginning of the season to Kyle Allen, who then suffered an injury. This led to Smith taking over, but the veteran is dealing with a strained calf that could keep him out for a second consecutive week. However, he’s feeling better and might be able to return this weekend.

Dwayne Haskins played in a total of four games before going on a bench hiatus until Week 14. The second-year quarterback has thrown for 1,285 yards and five touchdowns this season while completing 62.9 percent of his passes.
