Draymond Green says Golden State Warriors won’t worry about chasing No. 1 seed

Draymond Green isn’t sweating the ultra-competitive race taking place atop the Western Conference, where four teams are rabidly vying to stay in the best spot possible prior to the end of the season.

The Houston Rockets have railed off 17 straight wins, and while the Golden State Warriors have the shortest streak of any of the top-four teams in the West, Green isn’t sweating bullets trying to play catch-up.

“I guess you always want the No. 1 seed, but we’re not gonna spend the rest of our year trying to chase the No. 1 seed,” said Green. “If it happens, it happens.”

“Our goal is to get better each and every day. If we’re getting better each and every day and we’re at the top of our game at the right time, I don’t care who we’re playing, we’ll be just fine. Our goal is just to get better.”

Green’s message contradicts that of his teammate Klay Thompson, who claimed his team is trying to clean out the competition the rest of the way; yet it borrows a bit from Kevin Durant, who said the wins should keep coming so long as the team keeps improving with every game.

So far the Warriors have beaten six straight opponents since the All-Star break and have shown no signs of slowing down, leading the league in field goal percentage, 3-point percentage, assists, and net rating since coming off the All-Star break.

Golden State is only a half game behind the Rockets, so the slightest slip from either party could make this interesting either way.
