Doc Rivers says Chris Paul was great for Clippers while there

Doc Rivers, Chris Paul

The Chris Paul era for the L.A. Clippers ended unceremoniously last summer, when the Clips traded the future Hall of Famer point guard to the Houston Rockets for a package of players and some cash.

Paul played for six seasons for the Clippers from 2011 to 2017, helping the Clippers become a perennial title contender during his stint with the ball club. During those years, Paul averaged 18.8 points, 9.8 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.2 steals in 409 regular seasons games.

The Clippers, however, weren’t able to go as far as the Western Conference Finals in those years, thus giving Paul and the team an infamous reputation for being playoff duds.

Despite the run of postseason shortcomings with the Clips, Paul’s contribution to the team could not be denied. Clippers head coach wants people to keep that in mind, speaking about it Friday just before his team faces the Houston Rockets.

Via Mark Berman of Fox 26:

The Clippers didn’t have much success to show before Paul landed on their laps in 2011. In 27 previous seasons, the Clippers only made it to the postseason four times. They are still searching for the franchise’s first NBA title, but Paul will always be remembered as the guy who helped put respect in the name of the Clippers.
