David West looking forward to playing former teammate Chris Paul in WCF

An interesting subplot in the Western Conference Finals will be the meeting between Chris Paul and David West.

The two were teammates for the New Orleans Hornets back in the day, both making All-Star teams and showing a lot of early potential in the playoffs. Of course, since then the two have gone elsewhere with West finding a nice niche on the Golden State Warriors and Paul making his first ever conference finals with the Houston Rockets.

Tomorrow night the two will square off with a lot on the line.

Via The Mercury News:

“We were a pretty good group,” West said. “I think we grew up together in terms of learning how to be effective, get our NBA legs under us. Do some building stages early on.”

“Who knows what that team would’ve done had we stayed together,” West said. “It was a good run. It was really like a starting point for both of us in our careers.”

West had a good time reminiscing about that team he was on with Paul but will now have to compete against Paul in what will likely be a very competitive series.

“We’re going to compete,” West said. “It’s going to be a competitive series and I’m looking forward to it.”
