Daryl Morey shares perfect tweet on why Rockets are ‘destined to win this year’

NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal believes that the 2019-20 NBA season should be canceled for safety reasons and for the fact that any team who wins the title this year will have an asterisk to their victory. However, for Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey, this situation is exactly why his team is bound to win the title.

Morey retweeted the discussion between Rachel Nichols, Tracy McGrady, and Richard Jefferson on O’Neal’s opinion that any title would have an asterisk next to it. Not one of them sided agreed with O’Neal’s opinion.

In Morey’s part, perhaps recounting the Rockets’ title history, he claimed that the 2019-20 season is their time because of this “asterisk.”

The Rockets franchise has a total of two titles, which they won back-to-back in 1994 and 1995. For those who grew up in the 90s, this was the time when Michael Jordan was out, which effectively eliminated the Bulls from title contention after winning three straight.

While Jordan did comeback in 1995, it was very late in the season. As revealed in The Last Dance, Jordan confessed that he simply did not have enough time to condition his body.

For some analysts, this is the asterisk in the Rockets’ two titles. After all, Jordan and the Bulls were at the peak of their powers that time — at least at face value. While Jordan was going through some rough patches in his personal life, there’s a great belief that if he had powered through, then the Bulls would’ve continued their dominance for four or five straight years.
