Daryl Morey says Warriors’ Hamptons 5 lineup is arguably the best ever

The Houston Rockets are in a bit of a hole right now. Down 2-0 to the Golden State Warriors, James Harden and company have quite a mountain to climb if they wish to topple the defending champs in their Western Conference Seminfinals matchup.

Rockets general manager Daryl Morey certainly appreciates the gravity of the task at hand, especially considering the fact that in his mind, the Warriors possess one of the greatest lineups of all time.

“They’re putting just an unbelievable five on the floor against us to start the game – and I think maybe historically, one of the best five, if not the best five (ever) if you look at their overall net rating,” Morey said, via Sam Amick of The Athletic.

Morey is referring to Golden State’s famed Hamptons 5 lineup here, which amazingly, does not even include the injured DeMarcus Cousins. Regardless, there are very few — if any — that would argue against Morey’s sentiments here.

The Rockets GM went on to say that he disagrees with those who say that it’s just a matter of Houston struggling to make their shots. Morey believes that in this regard, the credit still has to be given to the Warriors’ elite defense.

“People want to make it about our offense struggling against (them), but they can make anyone look bad,” he added. “And they did make us look bad in Game 2 for sure.”

With the series now shifting to Houston for Games 3 and 4, the Rockets will have a chance to even things out in their home floor. They will definitely want to win both home games, as a Warriors win would mean that they would return to Oakland with the defending champs holding an almost insurmountable 3-1 series advantage.
