Daryl Morey says James Harden is the hardest worker on Rockets

Daryl Morey, James Harden

Despite another disappointing end to their season, the Houston Rockets’ front office is fully committed to James Harden as their cornerstone superstar moving forward. Recently, general manager Daryl Morey once again sent praise the reigning MVP’s way, stating that he sees Harden as the hardest worker on the entire team.

When asked this very question, Morey did not hesitate one bit and quickly explained why Harden gets his nod:

“Everyone says they’re the first in the gym, last out,” Morey said, via Aaron Reiss of The Athletic. “He might not be first, but he is always last.”

This does not come as a surprise at all, as Harden is considered one of the best players in the league today. While he certainly possesses plenty of God-given talent with the basketball, the 29-year-old’s superiority does not totally come innately. This is the product of hard work, perseverance, and endless hours in the gym. The greatness that we see on the court is simply a result of all the tireless work he has put in throughout his career.

This past season, Harden showcased his unmatched offensive prowess by averaging a career-high 36.1 points per contest on 44.2 percent shooting. This came along with 4.8 3-pointers, 6.6 rebounds, 7.5 assists, 2.0 steals, and 0.7 blocks in 36.8 minutes per contest.

However, many believe that his astounding season-long performance will not be enough to secure back-to-back MVP titles. Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is widely regarded as the front-runner to this season’s honor, which is more of a testament to his amazing season as opposed to Harden’s shortcomings.
