Daryl Morey reacts to trade rumors surrounding Rockets

Daryl Morey, Rockets

Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey addressed the trade talks surrounding the team in the past few days.

According to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle, Morey said that they are certainly open to making trades that will help them improve their chances of winning a title next season. The Rockets were the favorites to topple the Golden State Warriors this season, but they lost in six games in the second round of the playoffs.

Morey also added that they are going to keep their “key people” in the team. This is a bit different from what was earlier reported. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Morey has made all player and future draft picks available in trade talks in the offseason.

Even superstar James Harden was not tagged as untouchable, but Wojnarowski said that the possibility of trading the MVP candidate is “extremely limited.” The case is different for stars Chris Paul and Clint Capela, who were mentioned as realistic trade options for the Rockets.

During his recent press conference, Morey also added that he is hoping that they can get a key player with their mid-level exception. He also has a lot of decisions to make in terms of their coaching staff after letting go of several assistant coaches. Head coach Mike D’Antoni remains without a contract after the 2019-20 NBA season.
