Corey Brewer firmly believes that former Houston Rockets teammate and foe James Harden is ‘one of the best players to ever play the game.’
Speaking with Kristine Leahy on Fair Game, Brewer — who is currently a free agent — recalled being teammates with Harden with the Rockets and later on, going up against him.
“James is one of the best players to ever play the game, no matter what everybody says. Just the way he plays, the way he uses his body, the way he gets calls,” Brewer shared.

Brewer spent two and a half seasons with the Rockets, playing a key role on the team’s second unit. After his stint with Houston, he jumped from team to team. When he was a member of the Philadelphia 76ers last campaign, he had the task of guarding Harden. It was during this time that he tried different ways to lock up Harden.
Brewer, who was on a 10-day contract during this time, put on his best defensive stance against the then reigning league MVP. Among the other things he did was talk trash, defend him close even before the ball was in play and guard him even when he’s down on the floor trying to get up.
It’s hard to argue with Cory Brewer’s claim. After all, James Harden has one MVP to his name. He is largely considered as one of the best offensive players in NBA history, so it would hardly come as a surprise if he indeed goes down as one of the best to ever play the game.
