Colin Cowherd thinks Warriors can win series even with Kevin Durant out
The Golden State Warriors will be without Kevin Durant’s services for at least the remainder of the second-round series against the Houston Rockets. With Durant out, the Rockets have a prime opportunity to knock off the two-time defending champions. There are some, like Charles Barkley, who think the Warriors can’t win this series without Durant.
But Colin Cowherd isn’t buying that, because the Warriors have had plenty of success in recent years in games without Durant:
“When Kevin Durant’s not playing the Warriors aren’t better, they’re different and their different is damn good… They’re 29-4 when KD doesn’t and Steph does play. Don’t tell me Houston’s got this series.” — @ColinCowherd pic.twitter.com/5LIj2XFy98

When Durant went down with the calf injury in the third quarter of Game 5, the Rockets were primed to win the game. However, Stephen Curry stepped up to help his team take a 3-2 series lead.
Durant underwent an MRI on Thursday, and his injury was confirmed as a calf strain. He’ll be re-evaluated next week, so he may be able to return if the Warriors advance to the Western Conference Finals.
The Warriors have already won a championship without Durant, and they still have the best pieces from the team that won the title back in 2015. The Dubs can never be counted out until they’re officially eliminated from the postseason.
Game 6 will be played in Houston on Friday night. A loss for the Rockets will mean the end of their season, while a victory for the Warriors will mean they’re one step closer to winning a third straight title.
