Clippers’ Patrick Beverley gives a shout-out to Roy Rogers, fires back at fan telling him to sign with Bulls for minimum

Patrick Beverley, Roy Rogers

Los Angeles Clippers guard Patrick Beverley says the Chicago Bulls made a good move by hiring Roy Rogers as an assistant coach on Monday.

Beverley and Rogers were together with the Houston Rockets for one season. The rugged defender gave a shout-out to Rogers on Twitter, but in that process, some Bulls fan told Beverley to sign with Chicago for the minimum.

Beverley, who was born and raised in Chicago, found that comment to be funny:

Beverley becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer. The Clippers would love to re-sign him, but there’s no guarantee that will happen since LA is trying to sign two superstars this offseason.

The Bulls are said to have interest in signing Beverley. However, it’s clear the Chicago native isn’t going to give the organization a hometown discount. This season with the Clippers, Beverley averaged 7.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists while shooting 40.7 percent from the field, 39.7 percent from beyond the arc and 78.0 percent from the free-throw line.

LA exceeded expectations this season. They made the playoffs despite not having a single All-Star on the roster. The Clippers took the mighty Golden State Warriors to six games in the first round of the 2019 playoffs. Many believe the Clips are one superstar away from being a serious title contender.
