Clippers news: DeAndre Jordan says Patrick Beverley, Milos Teodosic will be just fine in post-Chris Paul era

Like most basketball analysts, L.A. Clippers center DeAndre Jordan knows how big of a hit the team took following Chris Paul’s departure via a trade to the Houston Rockets this summer.

While speaking to Jovan Buha of ESPN, Jordan expressed Paul’s unequaled value to the Clippers, particularly in terms of setting the table on offense. Jordan himself was a many-time beneficiary of Paul’s genius, having received countless lob passes for easy baskets from the future Hall of Fame point guard.

At the same time, Jordan believes that what they lost in Paul, they could make up for in some other ways with guys like Patrick Beverley and Milos Teodosic expected to cover the void left by Paul.

DeAndre Jordan knows it’s impossible for the Clippers to replace Chris Paul’s playmaking, but he believes Patrick Beverley and Milos Teodosic will help the Clippers remain a great team: “Those guys are going to come in and play their style of basketball, and it’s going to be fun.”

Beverley is way behind Paul in dishing the ball and overall scoring ability but he’s a defensive menace, who effectively disrupts opponents’ offenses. The 29-year-old Beverley averaged 9.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in 67 games for the Rockets last season. As with Paul, Beverley is a first team all-defender last year.

Teodosic, on the other hand, has yet to play a single NBA game but he comes with an impressive international basketball resume. As far as playmaking is concerned, Teodosic is the more comparable player to Paul than Beverley. The Serbian, who is regarded as one of the best basketball players still to play in the NBA, is a cerebral passer with a deadly outside touch. He put up 16.1 points and 6.8 assists for Russian ball club CSKA Moscow.
