Clint Capela’s agent called 10 teams after meeting with the Rockets
With LeBron James already committing to the Los Angeles Lakers, Clint Capela’s star as a free agent just got a little shinier with apparently plenty of teams having contact with the center’s agent, per Brian Windhorst of ESPN (h/t Ben DuBose of Locked On Rockets).

Clint Capela is a restricted free agent, meaning the Rockets can still retain him by simply matching any offer the big man would fetch in the market. Aside from a meeting with Houston, it was also reported previously that Capela also met with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Capela earned just $2.3 million last season, which was a bargain for Houston, given the numbers and value they got from him. Capela was a double-double machine for the Rockets, putting up 13.9 points and pulling down 10.8 rebounds per game. He also served as an imposing presence at the rim, as evidenced by his 1.9 blocks per game average and the fact that he led the team in defensive win shares with 4.1.
Capela was an integral part of Houston’s offense with James Harden and Chris Paul looking often for him for lob passes whenever any of the two manages to break down opposing defenses.
With DeMarcus Cousins agreeing to a deal with the Golden State Warriors, the Rockets’ need to re-sign Clint Capela should intensify to secure someone they could throw at the defending NBA champions’ frontcourt. It’s going to be easier said than done for the Rockets, who will likely be over the tax threshold if they ink Capela to a new deal.
