Clint Capela isn’t worried about Stephen Curry’s 35-point night

In the first two games of the Western Conference finals, the Houston Rockets, with some help from luck, did an admirable job of putting the clamps on Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry. On Sunday, however, the Rockets’ worst nightmare came to fruition as Curry rediscovered his offensive touch and torched Houston for 35 points on 13-for-23 shooting from the field.

While Curry’s offensive outburst sent shivers down the spines of Houston fans, Rockets big man Clint Capela does not seem to be concerned at all of the two-time league MVP’s reawakening, per Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated.

“I don’t think there was a difference,” Capela told The Undefeated. “During the three games [this series], he just kept playing. Tonight, he just had open looks at the 3 and just shot it. But the first two games, he didn’t have open looks from 3. Tonight, he just made them.

“If I’m close to him when he’s shooting 3s, he’s not going to make 3s. Whenever he got a little separation, that is why he made 3s. Not really [worried].”

Saying that Curry “just made them” makes Clint Capela sound as though he has not watched Curry play a game of basketball before. Despite shooting just 2-for-13 in Games 1 and 2, Curry is always going to find his rhythm sooner than later. Unfortunately for the Rockets, that came right in the Warriors’ very first home game in the series. Curry did most of his damage in the third quarter in which he poured 18 points on a perfect 7-for-7 shooting from the floor.

Curry hopes his hands are still smoking hot when Golden State hosts the Rockets anew in Game 4 of the series this Tuesday.
