Chris Paul talks emotions playing in Staples Center again

For the first time since his blockbuster trade to Houston in the offseason, Rockets point guard Chris Paul is set to make his return to Staples Center in Los Angeles. He won’t face his old team, the Clippers, though, but will instead go up against the Lakers on Sunday night.

Paul is still unsure how he’ll feel coming back to play in the building he called home for six seasons with his new team, but he does know it’s a fun experience for him personally to be back given all the memories he’s had at Staples over the years.

“I don’t know (how I’ll feel inside Staples),” Paul said according to USA Today’s Sam Amick. “I just – I don’t know … It’s cool being back, though. I tell you that much. To get to see a lot of familiar faces, and a lot of familiar areas, it’s good to be back.”

Paul’s first game against his old team at Staples is still on Jan. 15, which is still quite a ways away. However, he’ll have the upcoming game against the Lakers at Staples, not to mention a home game in his first meeting against the Clippers on Dec. 22, to get some of the butterflies out of his stomach before that emotional night.
