Chris Paul reacts to the Rockets parting ways with Carmelo Anthony

Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, Rockets

The Houston Rockets blew out the Golden State Warriors on Thursday at home, just hours after the team officially parted ways with Carmelo Anthony. Houston won by a final score of 107-86 for its third-straight win. After the game, Chris Paul made his first public comments since his pal Melo was let go.

As everyone knows, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony, along with Dwyane Wade and LeBron James, are basically brothers for life. Their friendship goes way beyond basketball. Paul actually advocated the Rockets to sign Melo during the offseason, as he wanted to play with his buddy and help him restore his place in the NBA.

Unfortunately, it didn’t work out, as Carmelo Anthony was a negative for the Rockets in the 10 games he played in. Still, Chris Paul won’t bad mouth Anthony says Melo will always be family to him.

The Oklahoma City Thunder traded Carmelo Anthony to the Atlanta Hawks in the offseason. The Hawks then waived Anthony, allowing the 10-time All-Star to sign with the Rockets on a one-year deal.

The prevailing thought was playing with Chris Paul and reigning MVP James Harden would help Carmelo Anthony become an effective player in Houston.

That wasn’t the case at all, as Anthony was a huge negative for the Rockets when he was on the court.Houston had a net rating of minus-9.0 with Anthony on the court and minus-0.2 with him on the bench, per NBA.com. Anthony averaged 13.4 points and 5.4 per game with the Rockets while shooting 40.5 percent from the field and 32.8 percent from beyond the arc in the 10 games he’s played in.
