In the middle of his 13th season, Chris Paul might just have found one of the most talented teammates that he’s seen throughout his career in backcourt mate James Harden.
The Beard has led the NBA in scoring for the majority of this season, but has taken it to the next level in recent games. In the past five outings, Harden has averaged 36.2 points on 50.9 percent shooting with averages of 8.4 assists, 5.2 rebounds, 2.0 steals and a blocked shot.
Now both healthy and playing together alongside No. 1 lob-target Clint Capela, Paul feels like Harden will take this Houston Rockets team to the promise land as the outright favorite for the very elusive MVP award.
“I played with some great players, some really good players, probably nobody the caliber of James,” Paul said, according to Jonathan Feigen of The Houston Chronicle. “Try not to get caught up in watching what he’s doing. It’s special, man. The scary thing is he can keep getting better.”“He makes a lot of things easier for me and everyone else on the team. The crazy thing is everyone sees the 41 points he scored (on Wednesday.) It’s the unselfish things, the drop passes he made to Clint (Capela), the spirit I think our team plays with.”
