Chris Paul lauds Rockets’ spirit after big win over Raptors

Chris Paul, Rockets, Raptors

The Houston Rockets took down one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, earning a 107-95 road win at the expense of the Toronto Raptors. After the game, Chris Paul praised his teammates for the effort they’ve shown against the Raptors.

“One of the big things we always talk about is the spirit. The spirit of our team has been great. The guys that aren’t even playing, like (Shumpert) on the bench, with Vince & those different guys, Nene coming in and giving us those minutes.”

James Harden was able to get his usual numbers, finishing with 35 points, but the rest of the Rockets’ starters in Paul, Eric Gordon, PJ Tucker, and Clint Capela have struggled on the floor and were only able to produce a combined 35 points as well.

But the Rockets’ bench stepped up big time, with Gerald Green putting up 18 points and three boards. Austin Rivers added 13 points, four boards, and two assists. Nene, who stepped in the absence of Kenneth Faried, had six points and five boards.

Houston has won six straight games and are now tied with the Oklahoma City Thunder for the third spot in the Western Conference.

The Raptors on the other hand, have lost two straight games and are starting to lose momentum in their race for the top seed in the East, currently held by the Milwaukee Bucks.
