Chris Paul invades James Harden’s MVP presser with hilarious question

Chris Paul

A year after losing the MVP race to former teammate Russell Westbrook, Houston Rockets guard James Harden finally took home his own Maurice Podoloff Trophy Monday night, when he was named the 2017-18 NBA Most Valuable Player.

While speaking in front of reporters, Harden got a minor surprise from his Rockets teammate, Chris Paul, who managed to get a hold of a microphone to hilariously ask the newly-minted MVP about something that’s inconsequential to the matter at hand, per Tim Bontemps of The Washington Post.

Another sign of Chris Paul’s long-term commitment to the Rockets a few days ahead of free agency: he just asked James Harden a question about how many bottles Rockets team president Tad Brown will have to buy tonight in celebration of Harden’s MVP award.

Winning the MVP Award is some sort of a consolation for Harden after Houston failed to complete its goals of unseating the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference and winning the NBA title last season.

Paul may not be there to form a deadly backcourt combo with Harden next season, as he is set to hit free agency, but as Bontemps pointed out, the Point God having fun during Harden’s presser could be taken as a clue to his intent to remain in H-Town.

Paul is eligible to sign a five-year max contract projected to be worth $205 million.
