Chris Paul has question for Cavs about LeBron James
The Cleveland Cavaliers are really struggling. After a demoralizing 88-120 home loss to the Houston Rockets yesterday, the Cavs have lost 12 of their last 18 games. Their struggles affect everyone, including LeBron James. Widely regarded as the best basketball player in the world, James’ efforts have not been enough to help the Cavs. They were last season and the season before, but not this one. Rockets point guard and close friend Chris Paul could not help but beat down the King and his Cavaliers with a magnificent performance last night. James saw Paul shine as his team struggled.
After the game, Paul was asked about the Cavs’ issues and if they could dig themselves out of their hole. According to Tim MacMahon from ESPN, the president of the NBA Players Association answered:
“You’ve got LeBron James over there in that locker room. What else the man need to do? Like, seriously? Obviously, I’m a little biased, but what else do he need to do? If y’all don’t believe in him, then y’all trippin’.”
The bias Paul speaks about is a reference to his friendship with James. But you cannot deny he is right as what would you expect the best player in the world to do? LeBron had a good all-around stat line yesterday. He was a hair away from a triple-double, as he scored 11 points, dished nine assists, and grabbed nine rebounds, adding two steals and only two turnovers. He did shoot 30 percent from the field, but as Paul said, there is only so much the King can do.
The Cavaliers still possess the third seed in the Eastern Conference with a 30-21 record but are only 0.5 games above the fourth-seeded Washington Wizards. LeBron has made the NBA playoffs every year since 2006. His team had home-court advantage in all of those appearances. Will this be the first year that James goes on the road for most of his playoff run?
