For the Houston Rockets, Wednesday night’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers was a bit of an unpleasant surprise for the team with the NBA’s best record. Not only did the Rockets have their 14-game winning streak snapped by a 122-116 loss to the Lakers at Toyota Center, but they may have lost star point guard Chris Paul again to a left leg injury.
During the first minute of the fourth quarter, Paul had to be subbed out and walked back to the locker room. It was revealed by Rockets broadcaster Craig Ackerman on Twitter that Paul was not going to return to the game.

According to an article by Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle, Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni said Paul had an issue with an adductor muscle. If that is the case, this is an unrelated injury to the bruised left knee that kept Chris Paul out 14 games earlier this season.
D’Antoni also said that he was unsure as to what Paul’s status would be for Friday night’s game against the point guard’s former team the L.A. Clippers, a team he played with for the previous six seasons.
On the night, Paul finished with just eight points, five assists, and five rebounds in 25 minutes of action. Although superstar guard James Harden finished with a game-high 51 points, the Rockets were unable to stop Lakers rising star forward Kyle Kuzma’s career-high 38 points as Los Angeles ended a three-game losing streak.
