The Houston Rockets have played as well as they can at home to bring their series against the Golden State Warriors even after two wins at the Toyota Center. However, Chris Paul, Eric Gordon and P.J. Tucker believe they must play better on the road to have a chance to win this series.

“Yeah, we won the game, but we’ve got to be better,” said Paul after a 112-108 Game 4 win, according to Jonathan Feigen of The Houston Chronicle. “Going back to the Bay, they’re probably not going to miss those shots.”

The Warriors shot 8-of-33 from distance, including poor shooting nights from Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, who have struggled to find the range in this series.

Tucker, who played a massive part in the win with five offensive rebounds and an all-out hustle effort against Kevin Durant and company, also noted Houston must come motivated to do the little things in Game 5.

“We got to be better on the road,” said Tucker. “We have to be more physical We have to impose our will more. Those first two games wasn’t us. We had chances to win those games, but we didn’t play our brand of basketball for the whole game. We stepped it up at home. We played OK and we got some wins. But we have to be better.

“We have to be more aggressive. Even when they score, we have to get the ball out quicker and have to play faster.  We have to play faster the entire game and pick it up.”

The Rockets only made 17 of their 50 3-point attempts, good for 34% from deep, but Gordon, who has been the main deep scoring threat not named James Harden, knows they will have to hit early and often.

“We definitely have to be better and we can be better,” said Gordon. “We missed a lot of open shots. I know I missed a lot of open 3s. I just have to make sure I make them count next game.”

Most importantly, the Rockets’ bench will need to step it up on the road, which is usually tough for visiting teams, as the likes of Austin Rivers, Gerald Green and Nene could prove vital to putting the Warriors on the brink of elimination.
