Chris Paul eases concerns on his injured foot

Chris Paul

After the Houston Rockets’ Game 4 victory against the Golden State Warriors, head coach Mike D’Antoni confirmed that Chris Paul has been dealing with some foot soreness.

Paul doesn’t seem to be too concerned about it and tried to downplay just how bad it is.

According to ESPN’s Tim McMahon, Paul has been dealing with the soreness since the fourth quarter of Game 2, but he hasn’t appeared on the Rockets’ injury report.

D’Antoni revealed postgame that Paul told him that if he could get his foot right, the Rockets would be winning the game.

“Chris felt better. His foot felt better,” D’Antoni said. “I called him after Game 3, and he said, ‘Coach, I’m telling you, if I can get my foot right, we’ll beat these guys.’ Lo and behold, he got his foot right. And just like I said, we’re back to even.”

In Game 3, Paul looked to really be affected by the foot injury, and he seemed to be missing a step, In Game 4 he looked a lot different, and appeared to have that step back.

He struggled early in the game, but once he hit a rhythm, he helped lead the Rockets to the victory. He finished the game with 27 points, shooting 10-of-20 from the field and 5-of-9 from deep.

At times in his career, Paul’s ability to deliver in the clutch has been questioned and when the playoffs roll around, at times he has disappeared, but his teammates still have the faith in him.

“I just saw a guy who’s a mentally tough guy, who wants to win and will do anything to win,” Rockets forward Trevor Ariza told ESPN in regard to Paul. “That’s who he is. That’s the type of person he is and the type of player he is. We don’t talk about what’s hurting us. We just go out and play.
