All-Star point guard Chris Paul is once again on the mend after suffering a left adductor strain against the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this week.
According to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle, the 32-year-old’s status for the Christmas Day game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Paul had already missed Friday’s game against the L.A. Clippers due to the injury, which has him listed with a day-to-day status. Prior to suffering his latest ailment, he was just over a month removed from returning from a knee injury that forced him to miss 14 straight games.
In the 16 games that he played this season, Paul is averaging a near double-double with 17.1 points with 9.0 assists while shooting 47.7 percent shooting from the field and 40.8 percent from beyond the arc. This includes recording five double-doubles and a triple-double while also earning Player of the Week honors for the second week of December.
The Rockets will likely take the precautionary route with Paul’s injury given his importance to their long-term success this season. Houston has shown they can play at a high level with him out of the lineup this season hold an 11-4 overall record upon his return.
If Paul is unable to give it a go, reigning Sixth Man of the Year Eric Gordon will get the call to make the spot start. In Friday’s loss to the Clippers, Gordon recorded 28 points on 9-of-20 shooting with six 3-pointers in 40 minutes played.
