Another night, yet another NBA record that has to do with the Houston Rockets. This time, it was star point guard Chris Paul on Saturday night when he passed Andre Miller for No. 9 all-time in career assists in NBA history.
Early in the second quarter of Saturday night’s primetime contest between the Rockets and the Cleveland Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena, Paul quickly dished a two-handed pass to small forward P.J. Tucker for a corner 3-pointer. This was career assist No. 8,525 for Paul for the regular season, which puts him in front of Miller — a former point guard for the Cavs.

The Rockets have absolutely wrecked the Cavs on Cleveland’s home floor so far in this game, as Houston waltzed into halftime with a commanding 65-39 lead. The season continues to spiral completely out of control for superstar forward LeBron James and the Cavs, who have been to the NBA Finals the last three seasons along with the Golden State Warriors.
At the half, Paul leads all scorers with 14 points on 4-of-6 shots made from behind the arc, a whopping eight assists and three rebounds in only 18 minutes of action. Rockets center Clint Capela already has 12 points (6-of-8 shooting from the field) to go along with six boards, while superstar guard James Harden has nine points, seven assists, three rebounds, and one steal in 16 minutes of action.
The Rockets look pretty scary right now, especially when the trio of Harden, Paul, and Capela is on the floor at the same time.
